Stainless steel is an alloy of Iron with a minimum of 10.5% Chromium.
Chromium produces a thin layer of oxide on the surface of the steel known as the 'passive layer'. This prevents any further corrosion of the surface.
· Elbows 45 and 90 Degree – long radius is standard; short radius is also available
· Return bends 180 Degree – long radius is standard; short radius is also available
· Reducers – concentric and eccentric
· Tees – equal and reducing
· Caps
· Stub ends – Type B, to MSS SP-43
A flange is a ring of steel (forged, cut from plate, or rolled) designed to connect sections of pipe, or to join pipe to a pressure vessel, valve, pump or other integral flanged assembly. Flanges are joined to each other by bolting and are joined to the piping system by welding or threading (or loose when stub ends are used).
The basic types of flanges are:
